Hi my name is Amos McCormick. I have been a student at Destiny Urban Academy since the start of the school year 2002-03.

I have been told that I have grown so much since I started attending school here.  I think that I learn a lot faster.  I enjoy the environment because it is so small and because the teachers and staff try to make it fun for the students.

I love going to Chapel on Friday’s and reading my bible whenever possible. Sometimes, I even prefer just hanging around Destiny helping out whenever I can, instead of going home.

Destiny has taught me more than just school things, Destiny has taught me life lessons as well.  Such as: How to be kind, how to clean up after myself and how to be patient.  I aspire to be a Policeman, a Firefighter, or even a Paramedic and I think some of the life lesson’s I have learned will help me achieve those goals.   The best thing about being a Student at Destiny Urban Academy is getting to be with my Mentor, Pastor Juan Price.  Because of him I am excited about school and plan to continue here and be the first graduate of Destiny Urban Academy.

Student Story

Hi, my name is Dondea Antwan Logan and I go to Destiny Urban Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  I’ve been going there since October 2, 2003.

When I first came to this school, I never thought this could help me.  All I thought about was being a Blood. The reason why I came to Destiny Urban Academy was because I was kicked out of school for gang activity, disrespecting the teacher and other stuff.  But now I see, that a bad life!  From the girls and boys here, they’ve taught me it’s not always about gangs.  I learned its about God!

My favorite things to do are playing football and art.  My favorite art is drawing.  My favorite position in football is fullback, running back quarterback and linebacker.

My future plans and goals are to be a good dad and husband, have at least four kids and have a beautiful wife and have a good life.  Thank you.
