Mission Statement
Destiny Urban Academy is dedicated to the belief that a quality education is the most effective way of transforming many disenfranchised members of our society into productive citizens.
Pastor Juan Price founded Destiny Urban Academy in 2002. Pastor Juan is the pastor of Power House Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Pastor Juan has worked with young people both locally and internationally, ministering and counseling with youth from as far away as Jamaica. He has founded many mission groups, including “Men on a Mission”, which has established clubs at Northeast Academy, John Marshall High School and Roosevelt Middle School, all belong to the Oklahoma City public school system. Many of the students Pastor Juan has worked with have been involved with gangs, and come from single parent homes. These clubs foster meaningful relationships with students, encourage and motivate them toward academic excellence, teach character and moral values in a setting that is “unchurched friendly”. Pastor Juan has passed on a legacy to Destiny in subscribing to the message “success comes from within”. Of course there has to be a modeling and demonstration of what “within” looks like. Destiny works hard at helping the youth in this school develop an understanding of what “within” is.
